Dermaplaning is when a healthcare provider uses a special instrument to shave away the uppermost layers of the skin.
How does dermaplaning work?
First, your healthcare provider will cleanse and prepare your skin. They will then use a scalpel to scrape away the top layer of skin on your face. By removing the uppermost layers of the skin, dermaplaning reveals the younger, healthier skin underneath. This type of exfoliation can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and gently remove peach fuzz/facial hair in order to create a smoother surface for makeup application or add a natural glow to your appearance.
Who can have dermaplaning done?
Dermaplaning can be done on anyone but is not recommended for people who have active cases of:
